Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal data we process for the Crestfade iPhone app and the crestfade.app website, why we process it and what rights you have. The short version: the app keeps your data on your phone, and the website only collects your email address if you join the waitlist.
Who we are
The controller of your personal data is Arche Ideas sp. z o.o., al. Jana Pawła II 43A/37B, 01-001 Warsaw, Poland. For anything about privacy, email hello@crestfade.com.
The Crestfade app
- No account, no analytics, no ads. You don't sign up, and the app contains no advertising or third-party tracking code.
- Your settings stay on your iPhone. The apps you choose to cover, your time windows, your reason for scrolling less, your if–then plans and your pause history are stored only on your device. We don't receive them. They are deleted when you delete the app. If you use iCloud or device backups, Apple may include them in your backup under Apple's terms.
- Screen Time. Crestfade uses Apple's Screen Time frameworks to show a pause when you open an app you chose. Apple gives the app anonymous tokens instead of app names or usage history, and this data does not leave your device through Crestfade.
- Notifications are scheduled on your device. We don't use a push notification server.
- Purchases are handled by Apple. We don't receive your payment details.
If we ever add a feature that sends data off your device, we will update this policy first and ask for your consent in the app where the law requires it.
The waitlist
When you join the waitlist we process:
- your email address and the language of the page you used;
- the date of your consent;
- technical data that our hosting provider records with the submission to block spam, such as your IP address and browser type.
We use your email address only to tell you when Crestfade launches and when we're looking for beta testers. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Spam protection is based on our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can withdraw your consent at any time by replying to any of our emails or writing to hello@crestfade.com. This does not affect anything we did before you withdrew.
We keep waitlist data until you unsubscribe, and no longer than 24 months after you sign up.
Emails you send us
If you write to us, we use your message and email address to reply, based on our legitimate interest in answering you (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We keep this correspondence for as long as needed to handle your request and for up to 3 years afterwards in case of follow-up questions or claims.
Research studies
We may invite people to take part in studies of how well Crestfade works. Taking part is voluntary. Before any study starts you will get separate information about what data it collects and you will be asked for separate consent. Joining the waitlist does not sign you up for a study.
The website
The website sets no cookies and uses no analytics. Like any web server, our hosting provider keeps short-lived access logs, including IP addresses, to run and protect the site. Fonts are served from our own domain.
Who processes data for us
| Provider | What for | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Netlify, Inc. | Website hosting and waitlist form | United States |
| OVH SAS | Domains and email | European Union |
| Apple Inc. | App distribution, purchases, Screen Time frameworks | Under Apple's own privacy policy |
These providers act on our instructions. When data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, the transfer relies on the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework or on Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission. We do not sell personal data or share it for advertising.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict its processing, receive it in a portable format and object to processing based on our legitimate interest. Email hello@crestfade.com and we'll answer within one month.
You can also complain to a data protection authority. In Poland this is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (Prezes UODO), ul. Stawki 2, 00-193 Warsaw, uodo.gov.pl. If you live elsewhere in the EU, you can contact the authority in your country.
Age
Crestfade is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16. If you believe a child has joined the waitlist, contact us and we'll delete the data.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll publish the new version here with a new effective date. If the change is significant, we'll also tell people on the waitlist by email.
